Queensland Wheat Crop Outlook October

9 Oct 2017

With the winter cropping season nearing an end, prospects continue to deteriorate towards a very much below average winter cropping season with a predicted wheat yield of 0.95 t/ha at state level. This is 42% below the long-term median yield expectation.

More specifically, SEQ and SWQ have yield outcomes falling in the worst 10% of all years. The exception is for parts of CQ that have yield outcomes ranked in the 23rd percentile relative to all years. Widespread above average rainfall is needed during the next month to prevent further yield losses, especially for those areas that have late planted crops in parts of SEQ.
