Researcher biography
Dr Andrew Miles has been working as a plant pathologist in Queensland, Australia, since 2001. Dr Miles' work during this time has focussed primarily on fungal diseases of citrus with market access and quarantine relevance. Major diseases of interest have been citrus black spot caused by Phyllosticta citricarpa, 'Emperor' brown spot caused by host-specific toxin producing stains of Alternaria alternata, and the focus of Dr Miles' PhD studies, macadamia husk spot caused by Pseudocercospora macadamiae. Dr Miles' research has focused on pathogen biology and disease epidemology, with a strong focus on achieving practical disease management options.
