Ziyu is a third-year PhD candidate at the Centre for Animal Science. Her project focuses on bovine herpes virus-1 (BHV-1), a virus that causes respiratory and reproductive diseases in cattle and has the ability to establish lifelong latency in the host. This project investigates interactions between bovine herpes virus-1 (BHV-1) and host pathways, trying to use CRISPR and organoid models to gain insights into virus-host dynamics in a physiologically relevant context.
