This talk summarizes our efforts to integrate GWAS, CNV, RNA seq, microRNA seq, proteomics, eQTL and ATAC-seq to explore the genetic control of beef quality in Nelore cattle.


Professor Luiz Lehmann Coutinho

Luiz Lehmann Coutinho is a Professor in Animal Science and coordinator of the Genomics Core Facility at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture from the University of São Paulo, Brazil (ESALQ-USP). His work in the field of genomics was recognized by the state of São Paulo with a medal for merit in science and technology (2000). He is a researcher (level 1A) of the National Counsel of Technological and Scientific Development (CNPq), and author of 150 articles published in international scientific journals. He received his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture, University of São Paulo (Brazil), Master and Doctorate degrees from Michigan State University (USA) where he received an award for the best graduate student (1989). His post doctoral work was completed at the University of Georgia (USA) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USA). His research focus on genomics applied to animal breeding and genetics.
